On the first week of my job at my current workplace where we are a project team for the new airport complex, i met our office’s driver. He was talking about how he got the job as a driver. Before joining the company I’m working in, he was working at one of the palm related company (if I’m not mistaken). It occurs in my mind he’s married with kids and the job he’s doing i believe pays him very little. Actually we met on my first day at the office. He just came out from the prayer room praying Solat Al-Duha. Back to our conversation, he told me how his previous job pays better than his current job. He has to leave his previous job because the company was shifting to other location. In order to stay working with the company he and his family has to move or he needs to travel almost two hours everyday and if he stay with the job he will not be able to send and picked up his kids from school. One thing he said that really hits me is that “Allah knows best, He’ll help me get through this, Allah is the one Who give us sustenance”. Since then, every time he came across my mind, I pray to Allah to help and bless him. A very strong and hardworking guy, gave his fate fully to Allah and love his family so much. I’m very sure Allah will not neglect him.
Almost one year pass by since we had the talk. I went for hajj and just after I came back I got to know he is promoted to a new position where he is now one of the team members on the client side for monitoring the construction of the new airport terminal building where the total development cost of the project is estimated at RM 4 Billion. He is an inspiration for me. I met him early this week and say my congratulations to him. He still remember the talk we had and he told me “I’ve told you, Allah will help me”. Although tears did not came from my eyes, but he did shook my heart well. And yesterday, at the progress meeting for the project he was there sitting next to me. From working as a driver then become one of the key person that will make sure Malaysians will be flying from the new airport. He is a man to be inspired of.

I was reading Screw it Lets Do it by Richard Branson while driving to work this morning (At the red traffic lights) and I came across one interesting point made by Richard. He said that businesses doesn’t always do harm to the world. In fact he mentioned businesses can brings and promote goodness to the society. Some of the biggest foundation are setup by the richest man in the world. Take a look at Bill Gates for example.
This reminds me of some of the richest Prophet Muhammad’s companions (R.A.) likes Abd Rahman bin Auf and Sayyidina Uthman bin Affan. They used their wealth to help the spreading of Islam and defending the country.
So whats wrong with wants to be rich? Lets us all be rich and do some good things out of it. May Allah bless us all…

Everyone has their own opinion on something. Whether it is about life, work, marriage, studies and etc. One person opinion on something might not be shared by the other person. Person A might have the mentality of I am still young, I have to work hard and can work late, or what can you do if you go home early anyway? But person B might not share the same opinion. Person B world view might be, job is just a job. It’s for you to get money to support your life style. You have something much more important outside your working life and the question of what’s the point of having a money but can’t spend it? And person C will have different opinion and this goes on and on…
The discussion here is not on the opinion specifically, but rather on how do you deal with the differences we have in our opinion on something. I believe we all see opinion as something very subjective. Your world view and your opinion on something is affected by your up bringing, who you spend time with, what books you read and etc and we have to accept the fact that this is how we are created and there is no absolute truth on which opinion is correct accept for what being teach by the Quran and by our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
And all of this lead may lead to a problem. The conflict between we and others. But one thing to know, this problem can be solve once you realize something. That is, your opinion might be true, but it is true only to you, your self. Others might not share the same view as you do but we have to accept that their opinion on the subject matter might not wrong either. What can we learn by having this idea of thinking? We starts to appreciate the differences we have. We starts learning and see the world from other point of view and these, all of these will make you a better person and it will make us learn to know each other. Aren’t that what Allah S.W.T told us to do?
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
Al-Hujurat (49) : Verse 13
So why fight on the differences that we have? Why not use the differences an opportunity for us to learn and increase our knowledge. Who knows that we might be able to understand certain matters better and more accurate. We were created male and female and Allah made us into peoples and tribes. Because of these, we will have different opinion, world view and mind sets due to the experience we have through these differences.
Start respecting each other. Send out the love and happiness and make the world a better place to live.
